Jenna Bush Hager Shares Update on George H.W. Bush on 'TODAY:' "He Wants to Get to Maine"
A visibly emotional Jenna Bush Hager returned to "The Today Show" this morning, following the passing of her grandmother and former First Lady, Barbara Bush. First, she opened up about the outpouring of support after Barbara's death her family has received from the public and how much it has meant to them. "We're doing okay. What's so amazing is to hear how beloved she was. We loved her. But we drove from Houston to College Station to bury her next to her daughter [Pauline Robinson "Robin" Bush, who died of leukemia at age 3]. And the streets, the highways were packed with people....people holding up their pearls, American flags. It was so touching to our family to feel that love," she says, holding back tears.
When asked about how her grandfather, former president George H.W. Bush, was doing after being hospitalized the day after his wife's funeral for a blood infection, she had some encouraging words to share. "He's doing well. He's doing great. He's goal-oriented and he wants to get to Maine. So we think he's going to be going there. He's sad. But he's doing well."
