Jenna Bush Hager and Sister Barbara Share Their Unusual Christmas Tradition

Christmas may be over a month away, but Jenna Bush Hager and her twin sister Barbara already know what's on the dinner menu.
The two former first daughters opened up about their favorite Christmas tradition and it has nothing to do with a visit from good ol' Saint Nick, but rather, the family's feast.
“Well, our main holiday tradition is that we eat Mexican food for Christmas, because why would you eat a turkey when you can eat a taco?” Hager said while speaking to author and Instagram executive Eva Chen as part of the Vanity Fair and Creative Artists Agency’s “Conversations at PAC NYC” series at the Perelman Performing Arts Center on Monday, Nov. 13.
Despite opting to serve a rather unconventional potluck–which we have to remember they did grow up in Texas, what many consider the taco capital of America–the family sticks to more traditional dessert options.
"I make the pumpkin pie straight off the back of the Libby can," Hager added. “One year, we did a competition where it was a blind taste test of Libby’s pumpkin pie and pumpkin pie made with real pumpkin from Martha Stewart. Do not tell Martha who won, but it was the Libby one."
Though they apparently add a little something special to their sweets: cinnamon whipped cream. "I actually made it last night," Bush shared before her sister cut her off, "Barbara, don’t show off."
Speaking of the holidays, it's about the time of year that Hager takes her family to go pick out their perfect Christmas tree.
"We get our tree the day before Thanksgiving, or sometime on that weekend," she recently told Parade. "My mother-in-law and that [part of the] family usually comes to visit and they won't be with us over Christmas until after Christmas, so we decorate the tree with her."
"Also, it's usually on sale that weekend, which is a wonderful thing," Hager shared, noting that she's usually off from work so "it's not like I come home from work and I've been up since 4 [a.m.] and I'm exhausted, so it gives me the space to enjoy putting up the tree, and we get to enjoy it for a long time."
