Jenna Dewan Opens Up About Keeping Romance With Channing Tatum Alive as Parents: ‘We Work Hard’
It takes a whole lot of energy to keep that flame of romance alive! Jenna Dewan co-hosted Thursday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan, and the World of Dance host got candid about the difficulties of juggling romance with parenthood.
“I think we work hard,” Dewan told Seacrest when he asked how she and husband Channing Tatum keep their spark intact. “Having a kid changes everything, your entire life is changed. But I think we try to have fun still, which I think is a big … I think having a kid you have so much joy but do you really have fun? It can just be a lot of work, it can be tough. So we do a lot of trips. We do a lot of adrenaline trips. We go camping.”
Dewan, 36, and Tatum, 37, are parents to 4-year-old daughter Everly, and originally met on the set of 2006 dance flick Step Up.
“I would say it’s like 10 years together in Hollywood is like 45 in the outside world,” she quipped of that added layer of difficulty, adding that part of what made their relationship work was that they stayed grounded.
“First, we’re really boring, to be honest,” she told the veteran talk show host. “So there’s really no scandal. You can try your hardest and you wouldn’t find anything. They don’t leave their house, they watch Game of Thrones, and … they’re kind of weird, but they don’t do anything scandalous.”
What gets the pair excited these days if spending time with their little girl. In recent interviews, both Dewan and Tatum recounted a recent vacation in Mexico, where the family of three was relaxing in the hotel room when Step Up came on the TV.
“We were on vacation in Mexico, and we were all on the bed and took a nap, woke up, turned on the TV and it was on, and I kid you not, I was like ‘Oh my god!’ It was just on TV,” she told James Corden this past May. “And I was like, ‘Evie, Evie, Evie, look! That’s mommy! That’s daddy!’ And the first thing she goes is, ‘That’s not you.’ I was like, ‘I know I look different.’ And then we watched for a few minutes and she goes, ‘Can we watch something good?’ She goes, ‘like, one of my movies.’ We were so dissed.”
