Jenna Dewan Slays Work-Life Balance After Welcoming Third Baby
Actress, dancer, host, and producer Jenna Dewan is the queen of balancing the mom life with her work life.
The mom of three, who recently welcomed her third child in June, went back to work on “The Rookie” just weeks after her daughter’s birth. She credits organization and getting into the flow of her new life for being able to balance it all, as well as her go-to skincare routine that helps her save valuable time and allows her to multitask.
Jenna Dewan Balances Mom Life With Her Work Life
Dewan, mom to son Callum, 4, and daughters Everly, 11, and Rhiannon, born in June, is in full swing of her new life as a working mom of three. In fact, she only had a few weeks off after giving birth before she returned to film the new season of “The Rookie.”
When asked how becoming a mom to three has been, Dewan said she’s “outnumbered” but shared how she balances everything.
“You just have to logistically figure out some differences and then I lean on support. I have people that can just help me at times,” she told The Blast exclusively. “It’s a bit like managing a business, almost like different times people need to be places, different things that need to happen. So getting used to that flow and then adding in being a working mother on top of that, so it’s just another element.”
One thing that Dewan said helps her stay organized is a color-coded calendar in the kitchen to show everyone’s schedules.
“It shows me what is needed where, and helps me realize, I’m going to take the kids to school this day and Steve’s going to stay back with the baby,” she said. “And then we’re going to switch off, and tomorrow might be different.”
Jenna Dewan Loves Neostrata Skincare!
One thing that’s helped Dewan save time in her busy day is her skincare routine. She swears by Neostrata skincare products because she can do “multiple things at once.”
“I’ve always been skincare obsessed. I love the idea of keeping my skin healthy, and I’ve struggled with certain skin issues, one of them being melasma for many, many years,” she told The Blast.
“It affects everything because you can see it under makeup. You don’t really feel the most confident not wearing makeup because it’s these brown spots on your face, so finding Neostrata and the Vitamin C serum, their acid pads, and their glycolic face wash, I started realizing they were working to keep my skin more even.”
Don't Forget The Triple Firming Neck Cream!
Beyond just treating her face, Dewan is ensuring she doesn't forget about her neck and chest during her skincare process.
“The Triple Firming Neck Cream is my new favorite best friend. I slather that all over my neck and my chest as well as the rest of my routine,” she explained. “And the best thing is it’s multitasking. It does all these amazing things at one time and it’s under two minutes. So I absolutely love them.”
And for someone who simply doesn’t have the time to wear a 25-minute LED mask daily or time to apply tons of products, Neostrata helps Dewan get the job done in less time.
“The Vitamin C serum, I swear I use it twice a day,” she continued. “I would give it to anyone and everyone because it just helps with brightening and overall even skin. It’s the best one.”
Season 7 Of 'The Rookie' Is 'High Stakes'
Just weeks after giving birth, Dewan was back in action on the set of “The Rookie” for season 7.
“There’s some amazing guest stars coming on. It goes through a lot in the first five episodes and I do a lot of stunt work. I’ve been doing a lot, it’s a deep emotional ride for her,” she said.
“There’s a surprise character that’s coming back for my character, that was teased at the end of season six. It’s been personally really fun for me and my personal life, too. So it’s like a really exciting season and I’m excited for the fans to see it.”
Leaving Her 'Postpartum Bubble' Just Weeks After Having Rhiannon
Dewan had to leave her “nice postpartum bubble” to get back on set, but she said it was a “good transition.”
“I was in such a nice postpartum bubble and was really just home. I didn’t even actually leave my house for the first five, six weeks,” she told The Blast.
“The first day back to working, literally the first day, was full-on, I’m in the fire suit, it was action, it was stunts, it was all this crazy and even everyone was joking, so we really threw you in for a scene."
And while it may be work, it's still fun for Dewan, who said she really appreciates how things have been going.
"It also was fun because sometimes you’re in this blur post-baby, and it’s amazing, but then there’s something that kind of takes your attention, and your brain switches on in a new way and you’re able to feel a little more like yourself in certain ways. I really appreciated it and I appreciated how much they worked with me to make sure I was getting breaks on set and I was able to breastfeed and all this stuff. So it was a good transition.”
