Of the zillion foundations I own, I covet a select few, and classify them as my “special occasion” formulas; formulas so good, I conserve every drop and dip into my supply only when I need to look my absolute best. Among them is Chanel’s Ultra Le Teint Ultrawear All-Day Comfort Flawless Finish Foundation, which is worthy of red carpet-wear. Case in point: Makeup artist Angela Levin used it, among other Chanel products, to create Jennifer Aniston’s complexion look at the 2024 Emmy Awards.

The Chanel Ultra Le Teint Ultrawear All-Day Comfort Flawless Finish Foundation is a medium to full-coverage liquid makeup with a semi-matte, skin-like finish. The formula blurs fine lines and smooths unevenness thanks to finely milled, “soft focus” pigments, per the brand. Plus, it’s remarkably durable, boasting up to 24 hours of wear time. As someone who has tested it for 12 hours at a time, I can confirm it’s sweat-proof, budge-proof, and requires no midday touch ups.

Levin combined three foundation shades to create Aniston’s look, applied with a brush over top of the brand’s priming moisturizer. I’ve yet to try the primer, though I’ve found the foundation hardly needs any sort of base to ensure smooth, all-day wear. Plus, the plumping formula resists caking or settling into my fine lines, as many foundations tend to on my dry skin.

Glycerin is partially to thank. A key ingredient in Chanel’s foundation, it’s “a humectant that helps to draw moisture into the skin,” dermatologist Dr. Marisa Garshick, M.D., previously told InStyle, adding that it creates a “smooth” skin surface as a result. Furthermore, as dermatologist Dr. Melanie Palm, M.D., previously shared, glycerin is among the “precious few moisturizing ingredients that has a lasting effect, well beyond its time of application and absorption.” In other words, expect plumping hydration for hours on end—which, as I can attest, Chanel’s foundation delivers.
