Jennifer Garner Announced a New Book—on April Fools' Day
Update: Hours after teasing the world, Jennifer Garner confirmed that Bless Your Heart was in fact an April Fools' Day prank. "Thank you for being so happy for me," she wrote in an Instagram caption for the fictional announcement. "Your sweetness makes me feel ???? ?? for playing a joke. But this is an April Fool’s. ??????"
She got us good.
Jennifer Garner kicked off her week with with a major announcement.
On Monday, she took to her beloved Instagram account to share that she's officially written a book. In a video, she showed the cover-featuring a glamorous black-and-white headshot of herself-along with the title, Bless Your Heart.
"I have written my first-probably only-book," the actress said. "It's a real labor of love, and I go places I never thought that I would go, but I do, and I just want to thank everyone who was part of helping me write and create this book."
Bless Your Heart sounds like your next favorite celeb-penned memoir, right? As happy as this news makes us, we can't help but be a bit... skeptical. First, it's important to point out that the announcement came on April Fools' Day, when celebrities often tend to come up with elaborate pranks. So yes, there is a chance that Garner could be completely trolling us.
Other clues that have us raising our eyebrows include the fact that she offered no details about the book-like a date, website, or link to pre-order. Plus, the top of the cover reads, "Foreward By My Therapist," which is pretty funny.
That said, fans and celebrities poured in with supportive comments in her post. "This is very exciting!" actress Sarah Foster wrote. Tyrese Gibson weighed in, too. "Bless YOUR heart........ Be right back I’m off to amazon now!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you always JG!!!!!!" he said.
Others, however, took the time to put their detective hats on. "I would believe this, but it’s April 1st. I’m skeptical of everything today. I would love to see a cookbook, though. ??" one user wrote. Another took the cover and the book title itself to suggest it's all a farce.
"I think this is an April Fools joke," one fan wrote. "One, I don’t think she would use that style of self-portrait for a cover, and two, “Bless your heart” is code for “F you.”, lastly, she does t [sic] say what it’s about nor does she name names of who she’s thanking. ?????? But, maybe I don’t know anything at all! ?? She for sure should be writing a book though!"
Should this turn out to be one big prank, we'll have to give Garner props for pulling off the ultimate April Fools' Day joke.
