Jennifer Garner Has a Bold Message for Taylor Swift While Sharing Clip of Their Movie Scene
L: Jennifer Garner, R: Taylor Swift
It may have been 14 years since Jennifer Garner and Taylor Swift shared the silver screen together, but the 13 Going on 30 star hasn't forgotten the touring artist's "hilarious" performance.
Valentine's Day premiered on, you guessed it, Valentine's Day of 2010, and the mother of three used the day of love to shed some on the beloved project, and her former costar.
"Happy Anniversary to this sweet movie, Valentine’s Day," she began, uploading a scene the two shared in the ensemble-led comedy. She also honored the late director Garry Marshall, who died on July 19, 2016, at the age of 81, before adding, almost as an afterthought, in parentheses, "(If @taylorswift is looking for something to keep busy, I’d like to remind her that she’s hilarious. ??)."
The scene in question has a young Swift, who was 20 or so at the time of filming, stepping into the elevator of their characters' apartment building with a giant white teddy bear, which easily takes up twice the space she does.
Garner's character is clearly exasperated before Swift even opens her mouth, but it doesn't stop the high schooler character from launching into the origin of the bear, which came from her boyfriend—played by Taylor Lautner.
Swift expertly captured the characterization of an infatuated teenage girl, dragging the story on with comedically timed pauses and exaggerated hand motions as Garner patiently humored her.
Swift has acted in other films here and there throughout her career, but it seems like her next project—following the conclusion of her ongoing Eras Tour, of course—will be her own screenplay, directed by the multi-talented superstar. So, it may be a while before Garner gets her wish.
