She’s over the moon for…overalls!

Jennifer Garner knows how to have fun. She knows how to fill your sometimes-too-serious Instagram feed with a little bit (nay, a lot) of joy, silliness, laughter, and style. Take her latest video as examples A, B, and C.

Garner took the ‘gram this week to show a ‘lil sneak peek into her wardrobe — a walk-in closet, of course, and one I could only ever dream of having in New York City. Aside from the obvious takeaways from the short snap — aka, Garner has some serious moves, which we already knew thanks to that iconic dance scene in 13 Going on 30 — I spotted lots and lots of denim in her closet. Clearly, she’s a denim stan, but the one staple she seems to love most? Overalls.

In the video, which she captioned, “My favorite type of fitting,” Garner can be seen trying on various denim overalls that all look so good. I’m serious: I never thought about adding the staple to my wardrobe until I saw the actress dancing around in the head-to-toe staple that’s clearly comfy (and stretchy) enough to, well, dance in. I’m sold just by that simple fact, because when I add denim to my wardrobe, it has to be comfy. Aside from that, though, it’s clear the one-and-done staple is extremely practical, too.

Garner has been a longtime fan of denim overalls, and a quick look back at some of her standout style moments prove that she’s worn the staple for various occasions, like the more obvious outing (ahem, while riding a tractor) to less-obvious ones, like while on the set of The Last Thing He Told Me. Both times, she wore a jean one-piece, though it was styled according to each occasion with the former calling for comfy tennis shoes and a baseball cap and the latter relying on chunky platform booties for a slightly more dressed-up moment.

The fact that Garner took to the ‘gram to model her go-to overalls — I spotted three styles, including a classic medium-wash option, striped version, and an ultra-versatile light wash — proves her affinity for the controversial staple not everyone might want to get on board with. But to those people, I say this: Overalls are beyond functional, given their one-and-done nature. And much like your trusty jeans, they can be dressed up or down depending on the day. Picture these overalls with pointed-toe pumps, a cute sweater, and bow accessories. If you want to go more casual, slip into sneakers, layer a white tee underneath, and throw on a baseball cap.

If there’s one thing Garner inspired me to do with this video — aside from trying on my entire wardrobe while dancing — it’s to invest in some new overalls for now and upcoming seasons. Shop some of the styles I’m eyeing, below.
