Jennifer Garner Lulling Her Dog to Sleep With Bedtime Stories Is the Best Thing You’ll See All Day
It’s official: Jennifer Garner is the Queen of bedtime stories. After cracking us up with her hilarious, NSFW nursery rhyme last year, in which she told little ones everywhere to go the f*ck to sleep, she’s back at it again with a brand new video starring her trusty canine companion, Birdie.
The actress and would-be school librarian/children’s author began sharing videos of herself reading books to her pup back in October, saying, “There is nothing more important than reading to your kids. Unless you have a dog.”
Her latest installment in the series, dubbed “Books With Birdie,” features the oversized golden retriever contentedly curled up in her lap, as Garner, 45, reads passages from what she calls some of Birdie’s books. “There are so many books to put a jingle in your giddy up!” she writes.
Her reading list, which includes Marla Frazee’s Santa Claus the World’s Number One Toy Expert ($8), Cynthia Rylant and Chris K. Soenpiet’s Silver Packages: An Appalachian Christmas Story ($18), Ann and John Hassett’s The Finest Christmas Tree ($5), Julia Donaldson’s Stick Man ($12), Mary Englelbriet’s works, Jacob Grimm and Jim Lamarche’s The Elves and the Shoemaker ($8), and The Little Reindeer by Nicola Killien ($10), is meant for children, though, from the looks of things, Birdie most certainly appreciates the works — she’s fast asleep by the end of the clip.
“You know what I just love? How they’re just grabbing donuts as they off the chair,” the Llama Llama actress says of one, noting, “I’ve seen you grab a donut before, Birdie.”
After a few more passengers and a yawn, the sweet dog is passed out, with the mommy of three giving her a pat and whispering “Sweet Dreams, Birdie.” Sweet dreams, indeed.
Happy holidays, Birdie and Jen!
