Every season without fail, there’s a new "ugly" shoe trend to stir up conversation among fashion enthusiasts on social media. No matter which side of the debate you’re on, controversial footwear is a guaranteed way to add unexpected flair to any outfit—and divisive shoe trends often come with the added perk of comfort. Case in point: the slipper-like clogs Jennifer Lawrence recently wore.
While clogs aren't a new fall shoe trend, spotting the polarizing shoe does catch me by surprise every season. Last month, Lawrence stepped out in New York City in the Haflinger GZ Classic Grizzly Clogs in a versatile navy blue shade. The Hunger Games star leaned into the laidback look, styled her Haflingers with an oversized button-down shirt, flare pants, and sunnies with orange-tinted lenses. Based on Lawrence’s cool and comfy look, we can safely assume clogs will be everywhere again this fall.
Haflinger GZ Classic Grizzly Clogs
Made from cozy wool, the GZ Classic Grizzly Clogs are all about comfort and practicality. They’re a great choice as the temperatures start to drop, since the wool-covered footbed helps to lock in warmth. These unisex slip-ons also feature a lightweight traction sole and a slight heel designed for maximum grip, so you can rock them all day long without worrying about blisters or discomfort. Though they’re neutral enough to wear with any outfit, the detailed embroidery sets them apart from basic mules.
In addition to the cosign from Lawrence, the Grizzly Clogs have earned hundreds of glowing customer reviews praising the comfort and support. “These are contenders for the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn,” gushed one happy shopper, while another raved about the impressive arch support and noted that they’re “great for swollen feet and moms-to-be.”
You can shop Lawrence’s exact shoes at Zappos, but I also took the liberty of rounding up six other clog styles at more affordable prices.

Suede is another fabric choice that exudes autumn vibes, and at 54 percent off, the Elle Suede Mules by Keen are a great deal. The burgundy red colorway costs just $65 (the lowest price in 30 days!)—plus, it’s the perfect shade to pair with a pumpkin spice latte and your favorite oversized sweater.

For an elevated twist on the clogs trend, these studded leather mules will dress up any transitional summer-to-fall look. In a recent review, an InStyle writer called them her “favorite” clogs, raving about the “pillowy insoles” and “easy-to-wear design.” The best part? They’re on sale for less than $100.
