Jennifer Lawrence got engaged to art gallerist Cooke Maroney this week, news her publicist confirmed on Tuesday night. There have been no high resolution images of the ring yet, but Lawrence has been photographed wearing a ring on her left finger on two occasions this week. The only issue with the ring she wore? The diamond looks suspiciously smaller the second time she wore it...perhaps because she's trolling the paps. So what exactly is going on?

First of all, here's what eyewitnesses said about the ring when her engagement was first reported: It's supposedly huge. Page Six TV was told by a source who saw Lawrence and Maroney at dinner together that “it was a giant rock. They seemed like they were celebrating and people were talking about it. The ring was very noticeable. They were sitting back in a corner. She was wearing a cute black dress with white polka dots."

The first time J.Law was photographed in the ring, the diamond did look big. Paparazzi photos were taken of Lawrence leaving Raoul's. That was Monday night, and while the photo of the ring is very, very grainy, a noticeable diamond appears to be visible if you zoom in.

The second time J.Law was photographed in the ring, the diamond was basically gone. Lawrence went out again with Maroney last night and was photographed leaving Il Buco Italian restaurant in New York City. There's a ring on that finger, and while it's hard to see it again, there's not much of a diamond visible. There's a tiny bump-and not exactly the kind of stone you'd call a "giant rock" or that you could see from another restaurant table.

Two things are possible: Lawrence could be wearing her engagement ring, but she could have deliberately turned the diamond around on her finger to hide in her palm because she knew the paparazzi were waiting for her, as Celebitchy pointed out. Photographers wouldn't get their ring shot, and she'd be able to debut the ring when she wants to-like at the Oscars, for instance.

Lawrence could also have brought another ring with her that she swapped her engagement ring for before leaving the restaurant. It'd be her way of trolling the paps and sticking it to everyone who is so eager to see her ring before she's ready to flaunt it.
