Jeremy Allen White's Calvin Klein Ad Earns a Cringing Reaction From His 'The Bear' Co-Stars
Jeremy Allen White has become a rising Hollywood star in recent years thanks to the success of shows like The Bear and his roles opposite stars like Zac Efron in The Iron Claw. Like many other leading men before him, White recently got his own campaign with Calvin Klein, with the actor posing in underwear in a classic black-and-white photo.
White's co-stars from The Bear are certainly happy about his success, but don't expect them to spend much time gawking at his scantily clad photo. At the 2024 Golden Globes on January 7, he was speaking to Extra with his castmates when they were shown a large printout of the photo. Rather than each give their own thoughts on the ad, their silence spoke volumes.
White nervously laughed and Golden Globe winner Ayo Edebiri took matters into her own hands as she grabbed the photo and laid it to the side. "I'm putting it away," Edebiri laughed. "That’s my boy! This is a work function, do you know what I mean?"
His other co-stars appeared just as uncomfortable. "That's my brother! This is a family!" Abby Elliott, who plays White's sister on the show, said. Ebon Moss-Bachrach stated plainly that they weren't in the right venue to be looking at or discussing such photos. "We're not at, like, the underwear awards, you know what I mean?" he said. "We're here to talk about our show and what we do here."
While modeling for Calvin Klein and appearing in an ad can be considered work just like acting on The Bear, White's castmates still weren't interested in staring at the photo. Instead, Edebiri spoke for the group in expressing how proud they are of him. "You did a good job," she admitted while waving the photo out of view. "He did a good job."
White, for his part, didn't think too much of his modeling job. "I feel very far away from it... I saw the billboard and that was really nice," he said. "Otherwise, I've been on planes and been with my family." When asked if it makes him uncomfortable, he was frank with his answer. "Sure," he chuckled. "Yes."
It seems like his training for The Iron Claw paid off.
