Jerry O'Connell gets to see Bravo shows before they air: 'I have more security clearance than Jared Kushner'
To Jerry O’Connell, being in the Bravo inner circle is a major achievement. It means he gets to see some of his favorite reality shows before the rest of the world, and it makes him feel more privileged than Jared Kushner.
O’Connell is the host of an upcoming late-night talk show on Bravo, and it comes with some serious perks. “The really fun part about having that job at Bravo is that they give me new shows two weeks in advance,” he revealed in an interview for AOL’s Build series today.
“So, I’ve seen the next two Real Housewives of New York. Do you understand how exciting that is for me?” He likened it to getting access to the White House. “I feel like I work at the White House and someone’s like, ‘Um, Mr. O’Connell, we have the dossier for you.’ I feel like I have more security clearance than Jared Kushner,” the actor joked.
“That said, I get super scared having that knowledge,” the actor admitted. He fears that he’ll accidentally spoil a series for someone — but not his wife, Rebecca Romijn. “I’m gonna get fired for this, I do share it with my wife, who is not a Bravo employee.”
We have a feeling NBCUniversal will let that slide, given O’Connell’s level of expertise. When Bravo announced his reality TV recap show last month, it referred to him as a “walking encyclopedia of Bravo history.”
Despite starting the interview gushing about his new scripted detective series, Carter, for WGN America, O’Connell naturally steered the conversation to reality TV, clearly a favorite pastime of his.
“I am gonna be one of three hosts on a show … it’s basically like a highlights show for everything on Bravo,” he explained of the series that caused a lot of drama when it was first announced. People were upset with its seemingly homophobic name, Real Men Watch Bravo, and its male-centered premise. To appease fans, they will be changing the name to Bravo’s Play by Play, as he announced on Build, and he promised that he’ll be bringing on lots of Bravo ladies.
