These Jersey Shore sub shops are just a short walk from the beach

There's nothing better than digging into a juicy sub on a hot day at the beach.

These sub shops are just short walks, if not steps, from the Jersey Shore's most popular beaches.

Whether you want a pastrami on rye, or a classic Italian dripping with oil and vinegar, check out these sandwich shops this summer:

Frank's Deli and Restaurant, Asbury Park

Just a few blocks from the ocean, Frank's Deli has been a staple in Asbury Park since 1960. They have plenty of classic cold cut sandwiches: pastrami, corned beef, turkey and assorted cheese (muenster, American and provolone). But they also have sandwiches "from the grill," like an Italian-style grilled cheese with fresh tomatoes, onion, green pepper and spices. Stop here on your drive to the beach, which is about 3 minutes away, 15 minutes on foot.

Go: 1406 Main St.; 732-775-6682, franksdelinj.com.

About a block away from Seaside Park's White Sands Beach, Jerry's has tons of sandwiches to choose from. Order one of the specialty sandwiches, like the Bertha with turkey, roast beef, slaw, swiss and Russian dressing on rye. You also can get something classic like a refreshing chicken salad, or a ham, salami and cheese sub. There are also a few classic hot subs, like chicken parm or cheesesteaks.

Lenny and John's Subs, Beach Haven

This shop is steps away from the beach. Order 8-inch half subs or 16-inch whole subs, with options like spiced ham, salami and provolone, or Prosciuttini, salami and provolone. They also have turkey, corned beef and Swiss, and a secret tuna salad recipe. You can order your sandwich on a pickle, too. Hot sandwiches include a grilled or breaded chicken cutlet with mozzarella, roasted peppers and balsamic dressing; or their famous triple decker "Sloppy Joes," like the Long Beach Boulevard with roast beef, turkey, ham, Swiss, Russian dressing and coleslaw on rye.

Go: 2205 South Bay Ave.; 609-342-8499, lennyandjohnssubs.com.

Just a few minute walk from Surf City's beach, Lighthouse Deli is an LBI staple. Try sandwiches like the Turkey Sopresatta with oven gold turkey, fresh mozzarella, spinach, tomato, basil pesto and toasted sourdough; or something more classic like the Lighthouse Club with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo on white, wheat or sourdough, served with a side of fries. Our favorite is the Cubano, with ham, Swiss, pork, pickles and mustard.
