'Jersey Shore' star JWoww makes emotional admission about son's developmental delay: 'He has therapy 3 days a week'

Things got real on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation 2 on Thursday night when Jenni “JWoww” Farley revealed some parenting struggles she is facing with her son, Greyson.

Since she and her husband, Roger Mathews, met on the original Jersey Shore series, the couple has been fairly public about their family — appearing in multiple reality shows and even creating public Instagram accounts for 2-year-old Greyson and 4-year-old Meilani. But it was still extremely difficult for the reality star to open up about something she hadn’t yet addressed in public about her son’s delayed development.

“Everyone wants to think having kids is rainbows and f**king unicorns, but it’s not,” Farley said in the show’s confessional. “My bubbe Greyson turned 2, and he still isn’t speaking, and he has therapy three days a week. So Roger decided to make me a Mother’s Day video and have all my friends be part of this video by sending in 30-second clips. Mike [Sorrentino] was the only one to be part of this video, and it’s really hurtful on so many levels.”

Although the admission was expressed within Farley’s emotional venting, it struck a chord with hundreds of viewers, who ended up reaching out to the mother of two to express their own parenting struggles. In response to the moms and dads who found themselves relating to her situation, Farley took to her Instagram to post a more in-depth explanation and to say thank you.

“To everyone that tuned into Jersey Shore last night and messaged, comment, etc. about Greyson Mathews with similar stories or just showing love, I can’t thank you enough,” she began. “To find out Greyson is ‘behind’ or ‘delayed’ crushed me…but only for a moment…”

According to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, a child at Greyson’s age should be speaking at least 50 words. And although Farley hadn’t identified a particular issue with her son’s speech, she told followers that he’s doing better.

“I’ve had almost every test done you can think of because I’ll never accept that this is best case for Grey,” she wrote. “I don’t sleep much lol. He’s my world and I want to give him the best life…because he deserves it.”

The sentimental post ended with a beautiful message addressed to Greyson.

“Your mommy will hold your hand and stand by your side for eternity.”
