Jesse Metcalfe Responds to Sharna Burgess Naming Him Her Worst Partner on 'Dancing with the Stars'
Sharna Burgess may be taking the season off of Dancing with the Stars. But that doesn't mean she's out of the limelight, as the fourteen-time pro opened up about her least favorite partner during her time on the show this week. And Jesse Metcalfe, the partner in question, was none too happy about it.
On the first episode of her new iHeart radio podcast "Old-ish," the professional dancer got into plenty of DWTS behind-the-scenes info. She opened up about how, while she chose to take off last season due to the recent birth of her son, she was not asked back for the upcoming season 32, which surprised her. She related it back to when she won season 27 alongside Bobby Bones, one of the most controversial outcomes in the show's history. She recounted that, after not being invited back for the next season, she blamed herself, as well as new executive producer Andrew Llinares.
Burgess did make a return to DWTS in season 29, competing with former Desperate Housewives heartthrob Metcalfe. However, it was far from a perfect return to the show. As she puts it, "They had me back the following season, and I had a partner that was really difficult. And not say too much because I don’t want to, [but] I wasn’t able to be in the room alone with him after the first couple of weeks because of things that happened. That was rocky, and we were eliminated very quickly."
Though Burgess purposely kept things vague, from the timeline, it's very clear that she was talking about Metcalfe, especially due to the fact that they were eliminated after only four weeks of competition. Suffice it to say, the actor was far from happy with the association.
“If she is referring to a time where our client Jesse Metcalfe worked with Ms. Burgess four years ago," Metcalfe's rep told TVLine, "the only recollection was that they didn’t get along. Vague insinuations are not only reckless but also irrelevant."
Burgess has yet to respond to the statement from Metcalfe. It's unknown as to whether she'll continue to talk about the previous situation on "Old-ish," or if--much like the partnership--she'll leave it in the past.
