Jessica Alba on the New Honest Company Line That Smells Like California

Jessica Alba wants you to know: Flu season's got nothing on you. With the crisp weather, an influx of runny nosesm and some inevitable germ swapping in mind, Alba and the crew over at The Honest Company launched a plant-based line of cleaning products that aims to keep every member of your family clean and safe.

The Honest Company’s Cleaning Collection, available to shop now, includes just about everything you need to clean your home from top to bottom, from laundry to dishes to soaps made gentle enough for babies. The line was expressly designed to powerfully combat germs while being sensitive skin friendly. "We are fortunate enough to have an amazing in-house customer service team who rolls thousands of calls, emails and live chats each day. Having the team in-house allows us to gain valuable insights into what our customers want, and we heard time and time again that they were yearning for a baby-specific cleaning line," Alba told InStyle.

The new formulas usher in new scent stories, but synthetic fragrances are nowhere to be found. Each scent was expertly developed with essential oils and "were inspired by the California Coastline," Alba said. "Moms, we’ve got you covered," she said. "This line has everything from laundry care to dish soap to multi-surface cleaner ... In addition to unscented options formulated for extra sensitive skin, you can breathe in scents like Coastal Surf (with cedarwood and lemon peel), Grapefruit Grove (with grapefruit peel) and Lavender Field (with lavender and sage) without the worry of ingesting poisonous chemicals.

But if you think the scents are the only curated element about the line, you would be wrong. According to Alba, the aesthetic was just as important as the formulas. "It was important for us to meet form with function, and we wanted to create a product that not only worked but was beautiful," she said. Expect packaging featuring custom artwork created in partnership with renowned Los Angeles-based fine art photographer Jin-Woo Prensena.
