Jessica Biel Confirms Loafers Are Still a Trend in 2017

Whether you like it or not, fashion’s obsession with loafers is not going anywhere.

Jessica Biel stepped out in West Hollywood on Tuesday wearing, what else? A sleek black pair of penny loafers by Louise et Cie.

The actress paired her loafers with a striped overcoat, cropped trousers, simple gold-chain necklaces, and black Wayfarer-like frames. Her relaxed cool-Cali style is not a surprise considering her husband, Justin Timberlake, had just received an Oscar nomination for his song “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” from the Trolls soundtrack earlier that day.

The loafer trend exploded in 2016 after Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, created a fur-lined version in 2015. Since then, Michele has steadily introduced several colorful, stylistic iterations of the Gucci loafer season to season. In short — loafer mania swept across the fashion industry, and loafers are worn by every celebrity, fashion editor, and street-style star you can imagine from Kendall Jenner and Chiara Ferragni to Alexa Chung.
