Jessica Simpson Addresses Rumor She's Using Ozempic for Weight Loss
Jessica Simpson addressed slimming down drastically in a new interview, denying that she's on the trendy yet controversial weight loss drug, Ozempic.
Those who follow Simpson on social media may have noticed that the fashion mogul looks very different from what she did a few years ago. Her Instagram posts are often inundated with comments from concerned fans, who are worried about Simpson possibly taking unhealthy measures to achieve her new body type.
When asked about the comments in a profile with Bustle, the fashion mogul said, "Oh Lord. I mean, it is not [Ozempic], it's willpower. I'm like, do people want me to be drinking again? Because that's when I was heavier. Or they want me to be having another baby? My body can't do it."
Simpson got candid while speaking about her reaction to remarks about her appearance, admitting "it hurts." She added, "Am I going to let the negativity derail me? No, I'm too old for that. I am too connected to myself right now to let that derail me. It doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt."
The "A Public Affair" singer instead sees the silver lining in having her body change so much over the years. "I am fortunate to have been every size. For [my] brand, understanding the women [who buy our products], and for my psyche," she said.
Simpson first received backlash for her weight loss when she shared photos from a Pottery Barn campaign in 2022. She responded with an Instagram post, writing, "As much as I have learned to block out destructive noise … peoples' comments and judgements can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging 'you will never be good enough.'"
She added: "The most important thing I have learned through the last 5 yrs without alcohol being a guard for escapism, is that I CAN and ALWAYS WILL get through it. I am capable of pretty much anything I care enough about to put my mind to. I am present. I am deeply inspired. I am determined. I am honest. I care about other people."
