Since Jessica Simpson became a mom of three and turned 40, the billowing blonde hair extensions and heavy makeup have taken a back seat. That means she’s rocking a bare face most of the time, and she’s nailed down quite the routine to keep her skin looking its best—but she’s also learned to accept her flaws, which honestly, may be the most crucial step of her regimen.

“I’m very into embracing my natural beauty. I’m embracing all of it,” she told Refinery29, which is especially difficult when her eczema flares up. “I encourage everyone to be open and honest about their flaws. Whether it’s eczema or something you’re going through emotionally.”

Over time, she’s learned that self-acceptance is a journey that no cream or serum can accomplish—which she details in her memoir Open Book—so keep that in mind as you scroll through Simpson’s favorite products, listed below.

Her top cleanser completely removes makeup.

Simpson uses Epicuren’s Herbal Cleanser to wash her face daily. “I love how clean my skin feels after using this gel,” she told InStyle. “Unlike most cleansers, it completely removes my makeup without leaving any residue behind.” Actress Kate Bosworth also swears by it, and Alicia Keys loves the brand’s sunscreen.

She’s been using eye cream since she was a teen.

“I’ve used eye cream since I got in the business, so I was about seventeen years old,” she told PopSugar in 2011. “I just like the way it makes me feel. And I don’t want crows feet.” (Unfortunately, she hasn’t specified her favorite, but this list of dermatologist-approved options should help!)

She uses a peptide serum that’s “like gold.”

And it’s from Epicuren. On her blog, Simpson wrote that the brand’s Discovery Bio Peptide Complex Serum “plumps up the skin to make it look more youthful and corrects and prevents visible signs of aging.” She continued: “And even with two kids and one on the way, I haven’t gotten wrinkles yet, so I think it must be working!”

She moisturizes with creams and oils.

Simpson is a fan of the cult favorite (and pricey) La Mer Moisturizing Cream. “My skin was dehydrated when I was pregnant, and this moisturizer was the only thing that worked,” she told InStyle. “For every day, I use the lighter version.”

Because her skin can get particularly dry while flying (Doesn’t everyone’s?) she layers on Sonya Dakar’s Omega Oil. “I swear by [it] for keeping my skin from drying out when I travel,” she wrote on her blog.

Only one product fully alleviates her eczema.

Simpson has dealt with eczema flare-ups on her arms since she was a child. “But after having my daughter Birdie, I had such bad flare-ups that I wouldn’t even show the pictures of me holding her to my friends,” she told Shape. Now, she uses Eucrisa, a topical prescription cream, and she loves it so much that she’s partnered with the brand. “If I see a flare-up, I use it, and it’s gone,” she told Refinery29.

Red light therapy keeps her skin youthful.

With all of the extra time she had in quarantine, Simpson discovered and relished in extra self-care with red light therapy. “I’m obsessed with doing red light therapy treatments at home,” she told Shape. “I place the anti-inflammatory device everywhere on my body, including my scalp, stomach, and boobs. I have fewer wrinkles at 40 than I did at 38!”
