Jimmy Buffett Hospitalized for Medical 'Issues' Requiring 'Immediate Attention'
Jimmy Buffett is prioritizing his health.
The "Margaritaville" crooner has been hospitalized in Boston, after sharing on Thursday that he unknowingly needed medical attention.
As a result, Buffett was forced to reschedule an upcoming concert in South Carolina. On his website, he sent an update to fans describing his current situation and explaining the need for the show cancellation.
"I had a sudden change of plans this week that affected us all. Two days ago, I was just back from a trip to the Bahamas, thawing out from the California 'winter tour,' and chomping at the bit to get to Charleston. I had to stop in Boston for a check-up but wound up back in the hospital to address some issues that needed immediate attention," he wrote.
The "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" singer also included a note about aging, as he quipped, "Growing old is not for sissies, I promise you," though no further details on the specifics of his condition were unveiled.
As for the performance, the industry veteran assured supporters he'd circle back around once he's "well enough" to do so. "All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced," the update confirmed.
The "Come Monday" artist had been on his Second Wind Tour with his Coral Reefer Band since early February.
Buffett's online communication continued, as he expressed heartfelt gratitude for all the support he's received, both now, and over the course of his career. "You all make my life more meaningful and fulfilled than I would have ever imagined as a toe headed little boy sitting on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico," he wrote. "Thank you for your prayers and thoughts, your amazing years of loyalty, and just remember, 'NOT YET!'"
