JJJJound Spotlights the Unisex Appeal of Levi’s 501
JJJJound, the Montreal design studio founded by Justin R. Saunders, is Levi’s latest collaborator.
On Friday, Levi’s released a six-piece apparel and accessories capsule collection with Canadian design group that reflects their shared commitment to quality, durability and minimalist design.

Launched in 2006, JJJJound started as a digital mood board to reexamine the recurring patterns in timeless design. With thousands of curated images, “the cohesive visual stream has become a mainstay and reference for the global design community,” according to Levi’s.
The platform has since evolved into a collaborative design studio centered around fabrication with purpose and longevity and has collaborated with New Balance, Reebok, Eddie Bauer and more.
Selvedge denim is the common theme in JJJJound’s capsule with Levi’s.
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the 501 jean, the duo created the Levi’s x JJJJound 501 ’93, made with shrink-to-fit light-wash selvedge denim and finished with copper hardware and a co-branded back patch.
It is one of several collaborative 501 jeans that Levi’s has introduced for the milestone this year.
The collection also includes a utility jacket influenced by the Canadian military silhouette offered in light wash selvedge denim and a denim shirt with copper hardware that combines JJJJound’s classic oxford shirt with vintage Levi’s workwear. A white pocket T-shirt includes a watercolor-inspired screen-print graphic of two horses on the back.
The accompanying campaign images show the pieces worn by men and women.
“Serving as a reinterpretation of timeless classics, each piece was meticulously constructed with elevated fabrications, precise componentry and subtle branding, while maintaining the integrity and identity of both labels,” Levi’s stated.
A selvedge denim hat and a large canvas red tote round out the collection, which retails for $75-$325. It is available on JJJJound’s website, Levi’s app and website, and at select Levi’s stores.
