John Legend and Kelly Clarkson Made a Major Change to the 'Baby It's Cold Outside' Lyrics

From Country Living

We haven't even made it through Thanksgiving, but we're already thinking about blasting Christmas music—and John Legend is to blame.

Around this time last year, The Voice coach released his debut holiday album, A Legendary Christmas, which included five songs that made the Billboard Hot 100 after the collection's release. In fact, John's reimagined carols became so popular that fans have been begging him for months to record more.

Because two of his chart-topping tunes were collaborations—featuring Stevie Wonder on "What Christmas Means to Me" and Esperanza Spalding on "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"—everyone has been hoping he'd release another duet for the 2019 holiday season.

Naturally, one Voice fan had a specific artist in mind: Kelly Clarkson. When they tweeted at John asking him to collaborate with his co-star, the coach had a cryptic response.

"Stay tuned!" he wrote.

Fast-forward a week, and it turns out the singer wasn't messing around. In his recent interview with Vanity Fair, John revealed that he and Kelly are releasing a jazzy cover of the 1944 song "Baby It's Cold Outside"—but they're giving it a 2019 update.

John shared a sneak peek at the lyrics and we are HERE for this:

Kelly: "What will my friends think..."

John: "I think they should rejoice"

Kelly: "...if I have one more drink?"

John: "It’s your body, and your choice."

If you're a fan too, you can now pre-order the deluxe copy of A Legendary Christmas, which features the new track. In the meantime, we suggest listening to last year's jolly album on repeat.
