Need a mask? With so many different options on the market, it’s hard to tell which ones are best suited for the job. You have to consider the type of fabric, the number of layers it has and how well it fits your face.
Luckily, Amazon has stock of its bestselling disposable face masks, and more than 9,400 reviewers attest to their reliability.
Made by Jointown, the masks cost $25 (with an on-page coupon) for a pack of 50—that’s just 50 cents a pop. They feature three layers, including a polypropylene filtration layer, and a metal nose clip to keep them snug.
Gaps between a mask and your face can deem the covering up to 60 percent less effective than a well-fitting one, according to a study from the University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory. The CDC also recommends that masks have at least two layers of fabric to be effective. So these guys are good to go.
Nurse-approved
N-95 masks are in short supply and reserved for medical workers, but one nurse says these do the trick. “Exact same masks we use at the hospital,” says the shopper. “Checked the box, literally the same brand. Yes, made in China just like the rest of our PPE—and safe to use.”
Comfortable
“Great quality,” says a fan, who received the masks the day after ordering. “Comfortable to wear, and the nose area has soft metal stitched inside which holds tight to the contours of my face.”
Passed ‘the spray test’
“I sprayed Lysol on one side to see if particles came through the other end and they did not,” writes one reviewer. “That's not a scientific test but it made me feel better about the quality. These masks beat wearing a bandana or scarf over your face.”
The reviews quoted above reflect the most recent versions at the time of publication.
