Jon Snow Didn't Even Pet Ghost Goodbye in 'Game of Thrones' Tonight
Everybody has a lot of opinions about Game of Thrones, and tonight's episode in particular is inspiring some very, very divided reactions. But one thing that we can all absolutely agree on? Ghost. Jon Snow's pure, loyal direwolf, the one creature who has been by his side through thick and thin since his very first scene on the show! Everybody loves Ghost. Everybody, that is, except for Jon Snow, who is at long last truly dead to me after tonight's episode.
We were all so busy being relieved that Ghost survived the Battle of Winterfell that we never even stopped to consider that Jon might callously abandon him without so much as a goodbye pet! A brief recap of the scene that has me, and all Ghost fans, so angry: now that the Night King has been defeated, Tormund and the Wildings are heading back to the North, and Jon instructs Tormund to take Ghost with him. Why? Because Ghost "belongs in the North". Okay, sure, I guess. But Jon barely even glanced at Ghost as he left him behind! Poor Ghost was left to stare sadly after his master as he departed, and fans were absolutely not okay with any of this.
I... will never recover from this. Ghost probably will, because Ghost is a good and hardy boy and Tormund will probably be a better master to him anyway. Also, Tormund is still bruised from being rejected by Brienne – or more accurately just fully ignored in favor of Jaime – and could probably use the love and loyalty of a gentle direwolf. But Jon Snow can never come back from ghosting Ghost. How dare he?
