Judith Light shares her skincare routine, revealing her staple drugstore beauty products that keep her skin moisturized and smooth at 73.
Her favorites include Burt’s Bees Lip Balm and the Vaseline Original Petroleum Jelly.
“I don’t believe in selling anything to anybody unless you’ve tried it and unless it really works.”
Award-winning actress and producer Judith Light is embracing aging and all the changes that come with it. At 73 years old the actress always looks stunning on and off the red carpet—so naturally, we’ve been wondering what the star uses to get her radiant-looking complexion.
Fortunately, she shared her skincare routine (including all the products) she uses in a recent interview with Glamour. And we were surprised to see that some of her must-haves include drugstore picks like Burt’s Bees Lip Balm and the Vaseline Original Petroleum Jelly.
“Vaseline! It’s my go-to. It’s amazing. I take a bath every night, and when I get out, I dry off really, really well, and then I put the Vaseline all over. Then it sinks in overnight,” said Light.
This customer-loved product has been around for years and truly works wonders when it comes to moisturizing and soothing the skin. It’s made from 100% petroleum jelly, an ingredient made from a mixture of natural waxes and minerals oils that bind together and help lock in moisture within the skin, according to the brand.
Customers also love its versatility—you can apply it to soften dry, cracked heels, treat dry skin on your hands, soften and moisturize your lips, and you can even use it to highlight your cheekbones.
It’s also the only ingredient used in the latest skincare trend, slugging, which involves coating your face in an occlusive petrolatum product (most commonly, Vaseline) to “trap in” moisture and prevent trans epidermal water loss, a top contributor to dry skin.
However, experts do warn that it may not be a beneficial product for those with acne-prone skin. “Although petrolatum jelly is noncomedogenic, it’s too occlusive for acne-prone skin and can trap dead skin cells and other debris, which encourages bacterial overgrowth and acne breakouts,” said Marie Hayag M.D., board-certified dermatologist and founder of 5th Avenue Aesthetics, in a previous interview for Prevention.
As for her lips, Light swears by Burt’s Bees Lip Balm. “I have a lot of color in my lip already, so I don’t need a tinted one,” she said.
The lip balm has a 4.7-star rating and over 500 rave reviews on Amazon.
“Burt’s Bees Original formula lip balm is the best lip balm I have used so far. The balm has a long-lasting coating that seems to keep my lips moisturized for hours,” wrote one satisfied customer.
“It’s moisturizing for sure and the texture is just right. What makes me love it, even more, is the cooling mint sensation,” added another reviewer.
