Julia Butters From 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' Brought a Turkey Sandwich to Oscars
Julia Butters may be only 10 years old, but she proved she is wise beyond her years when she hit the red carpet Sunday at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards.
For the child star, who won critical acclaim this season for playing Trudi Fraser in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, it was a major fashion moment.
“Beyond excited to wear something special from one of my FAVORITE DESIGNERS on Sunday," Julia tweeted ahead earlier this weekend alongside a photo of a Christian Siriano label.
And we fell in love with Julia even more when we learned on E!'s red carpet broadcast that the actress sketched the custom pink dress herself.
But it was one of Julia's accessories that ended up stealing the show from her A-list design. Packed inside her crystal disco ball purse was none other than a turkey sandwich. Let it be known that the Marzook bag retails for $2,495, according to Page Six.
Julia told Amy Kaufman from the Los Angeles Times that she packed the sandwich, which included tomato, because "I don't like some of the food here."
The Golden Globes introduced a totally vegan menu for the first time history this year. Designed by Wolfgang Puck, the Oscar's Governor Ball menu is just 70 percent plant-based, according to Robb Report.
When Joaquin Phoenix walked on stage to collect his award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture for his dramatic turn as the villain in the comic book film Joker at the Globes, he surprised many when he began his acceptance speech by thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for its progressive menu.
"First, I'd like the Hollywood Foreign Press for recognizing and acknowledging the link between animal agriculture and climate change," the actor said. "It's a very bold move making tonight plant-based, and it really sends a powerful message."
