Julia Roberts Spent Her 4th of July Week with the Kennedys in Hyannisport
Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts and her daughter, Hazel, joined the Kennedy family at their compound in Hyannisport this week.
"My mom and Rory en route for a sail Julia Roberts and her daughter, Hazel," Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. captioned a photo a posted on Instagram earlier this week. (Rory is RFK, Jr.'s sister, the youngest of Ethel and Bobby Kennedy's 11 children.)
While it's not clear where (or how long) Roberts and her daughter stayed during the 4th of July holiday, Robert and Rory's sister Kerry Kennedy mentioned her in the caption of a photo she posted yesterday. This one referenced a protest of the Trump administration's policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the border. The administration has since blocked that policy but many are still pushing for family reunification.
Kerry's photo shows a number of green jackets that read "I Really Do Care!", a reference to a jacket that First Lady Melania Trump wore to visit the Texas border last month.
The photo also included signs that read #BreakBreadNotFamilies. Ethel Kennedy reportedly led nearly 50 members of her family in a 24-hour hunger strike in protest of the Trump administration's immigration policies last weekend. Kerry, who is head of the nonprofit advocacy group Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, told the Boston Globe that organizers asked that each participant in the fast donate to Break Bread Not Families in place of the food they would have eaten during the strike.
So while Roberts may or may not have been there for the annual Kennedy family Independence Day celebration, she posted a photo of herself yesterday in front of a backdrop of American flags placed all over a lawn in a place that looks a lot like Hyannisport.
