Julianne Hough is trying out a series of monochromatic looks while on tour for her book “Everything We Never Knew.” In addition to wearing a series of looks that were in various shades of yellow (there was a look from Rosetta Getty in a pale yellow before a more vibrant yellow set from Del Core,) she recently turned up in New York City in an all black look. For that she wore a fringe black dress as well as black slingback stilettos.
The figure-hugging dress was from the New York City-based label Simkhai, founded by designer Jonathan Simkhai. Styled by Jennifer Mazur, the silhouette features a box neck, latticework detailing fringe that hangs from above the knee to above the ankle. The length of the dress was perfect to show off Hough’s shoes.

The heels were from Schutz. It was the company’s Boris slingback pump. The suede shoe features a heel of just over four inches. The shoe features a pointed toe and a small buckle at the ankle for security.
Slingbacks have been trending this year. They were seen in a major way at the Cannes Film Festival in May but have also been seen on other red carpets and at various other events. Gigi Hadid wore a pair from Miu Miu in her superhero get-up for the premiere of “Deadpool & Wolverine” last month.
Gucci and Saint Laurent have been large proponents of the trend. Kim Petras was recently spotted in a pair of Gucci slingbacks at an event for Miley Cyrus. Even First Lady Jill Biden has been wearing her favorite slingbacks from Valentino.
The slingback silhouette traces back to the 1950s with Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel and the footwear atelier Massaro Paris.
