Juneteenth celebrations to include art show, vendors fair and concert

CHILLICOTHE -- The Pump House Center for the Arts, Ross County NAACP and the City of Chillicothe, will be hosting two events this month celebrating Juneteenth.

The first will be the annual Juneteenth – Creative Artist Event Artist exhibition from 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 7, at The Pump House Center for the Arts, 1 Enderlin Drive. The winners of the judged Juneteenth theme art show will be announced at the opening event. The show will be exhibited from June 4–28, with some artwork being sold by the artist.

A Juneteenth Celebration, along with a vendors fair and concert will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Majestic Theater, 45 E. Second Street, featuring musical performers, poets, spiritual dancers and a short re-enactment. Also, at this event, the Ross County Youth Poetry Contest winners for grades 6-12 will be announced.

A vendors fair will be held in the courtyard of the Majestic Theater with food trucks and various items for sale by local business owners and there will also be musical performances at the event. This event is open to the public and attendance is free, but a love offering is appreciated.
