Jupiter Retrograde Is Over, Aka August Is Going to Be the BEST GD Month for You
You need no reminder that July was ROUGH–from Mercury Retrograde to multiple eclipses to cranky AF Cancer season. However, you've actually been dealing with even more than all that: Jupiter has been retrograde for the past four months. Buuuut you’re in luck, because on August 11, Jupiter retrograde officially ends for the rest of the year!

Jupiter is the largest gas giants in the solar system, so it makes sense that it represents growth, abundance, and luck–all things that probs seemed to be lacking in your life since the retrograde began. When Jupiter isn’t retrograde, it marks a time of expansion and progress where you’re making major moves in your personal goals, projects, and relationships. When it is retrograde, like it has been since April, all of that progress skrrts to a halt, usually riiiiight before you feel like you’re about to Do The Thing and accomplish something major.
All the growth and success you were banking on continuing suddenly gets blocked off by someone or something outside of your control, and it likely happened right at the height of your excitement, so you probably felt like a flop once it hit you. Think back to April, and that big promotion you missed, or that relationship you were positive was going to happen ’til you got ghosted, or any other type of personal achievement you were rushing towards—it probably lost steam and took a few steps backwards right around the time Jupiter stationed retrograde, which was the week of April 10.
As much as I wish I could say that you can blame all of your problems on the retrograde planets, that’s not really the case. Retrogrades don’t actually do anything to you to f*ck with your life–they just symbolize a period of time where you have to reevaluate, reconsider, and rework something. It puts you in a frame of mind where you have to consider why you were so motivated to do what you were doing, and all of the tiny details you had overlooked start to pop out. Over the past four months, all of the holes and weak spots of your plan became clear to you, and if you think about it, it probably wasn’t going to make it much further, anyway.
If you ended up dating that person you were only kinda into or unsure about, the relationship probs wouldn’t have lasted that long, TBH. If you got that new position but it wasn’t something you really wanted anyway (as much as a "yeah, sure, I'll take it"), then the misery and dread you would feel clocking in every day would outweigh the pay raise that came with it, ya know? You were chasing those superficial dreams in order to fit into the status quo, and do what you thought you were “supposed” to do, whether you fully knew that or not. You’ve spent the past four months doing a lot of soul searching and contemplating over why you wanted what you wanted so bad, and now you (hopefully!) realize that there are bigger and better goals to aim for that are more true to your passion and desires. That’s what Jupiter retrograde is about—external progress taking a break so that internal growth can take place.
Also, Jupiter’s reminding you that, hey, it’s not all about you. Your desires, your beliefs, and your personal goals aren’t the most important thing in the world. External circumstances supporting your progress were taken away to demonstrate that there’s a bigger picture beyond the one goal you were aiming for. Now you have a more clear understanding of the situation as a whole, and you can appreciate the things or people that aid your progress and consider those that hinder you.
Now that the retrograde is finally over, you can work towards new goals—ones that are realistic, considerate of others, and follow a path more true to you and your long-term growth. This summer is about to heat up (for real this time) and with all of the action going on in optimistic, over-the-top Leo, so the party’s really starting now! I’m not saying that August is going to be the best month ever, but… actually yeah, August is going to be fan-f*cking-tastic, believe me!
Read your sign's horoscope to see what area of life Jupiter is influencing most for the rest of 2019:
Aries
You’ve been facing setbacks in a few areas of life—mainly in travel, higher education, and spirituality. Jupiter Retrograde made you mull over all these topics, whether it was over moving to or traveling to a new place, considering a certain school/degree, or even just reexamining what you really believe in. You’re more assured of your convictions now, and feeling confident AF! PS: Plan a vacation, because Jupiter in your chart is making this year the best of the next dozen years for any kind of traveling!
Taurus
You were interested in making an investment, taking out a loan, or letting someone borrow your money, all with the intention of cashing out big time down the line. Well, that probs blew up your face and made you rage big time (nobody should f*ck with a Taurus’ finances if they know what’s good for them) but now you have a deeper understanding of not only the value of a dollar, but of your own self worth. Chasing after dollar signs is forever one of your priorities, Taurus, but money can’t buy happiness! Now, you’re depending less on material possessions to feel good about yourself, and can concentrate on emotional investments with your closest loved ones, which matter most of all.
Gemini
This Jupiter Retrograde was a real doozy for you! You’re one of the most independent signs, but the past four months found you feeling a little, well, lonely, because your Jupiter Retrograde experience was all about the importance of relationships. You’re aaaaalllll about superficial smalltalk and are a total Chatty Kathy, but when was the last time you made a real connection? Now that Jupiter is direct again, you’re able to build more intimate bonds—I’m talkin’ about getting way closer with your bestie, getting to know your S.O. or crush on a deeper level, and even mending a shitty relationship with somebody you’re beefing with.
Cancer
Take it easy–you deserve it after all the hellish astro-weather your sign’s been through this year! Jupiter Retrograde’s contributed to the generally chaotic feeling by stirring up drama in your chart’s zone of routines—which covers areas like your job, your health, your hygiene, and any other obligations you take care of on the daily. The importance of holding yourself accountable for completing everyday tasks and duties has been highlighted for your sign these past few months, so now that you’re fully aware of how dysfunctional your schedule is, you can set intentions and develop a more reliable routine, (which means no more stacking up dishes in the sink and “saving them for later” for days at a time). Time to organize your life, Marie Kondo-style!
Leo
Jupiter Retrograde targeted your chart’s fifth house—aka the zone of romance, sex, creativity, and everything else that sparks joy in your life. The Sun and Venus in your sign are teaming up to make Leo season the self-care month of the year, and Jupiter stationing direct amplifies that theme even more now! You’re the sign of charisma and talent, which is why you love being the center of everyone’s attention (including your own) so much, but at the same time, you’re also one of the most self-conscious signs. Where in your life are you genuinely expressing yourself? Where are you just putting on a show or performing for others? You’re figuring out now that you don’t have to rely on getting tons of likes on your selfies to feel good about yourself and you don’t need others’ affection to feel validated. This is cheesy, I know, but true happiness comes from loving and honoring 100% of yourself! Now that you’re more aware of this truth and Jupiter Retrograde is over, you’re shining brighter than ever, and you’re attracting genuine love and fun in your life!
Virgo
How’s the fam, Virgo? Jupiter Retrograde spent the past four months in your chart’s zone of home life, family, and the past, awakening all sorts of patterns from your childhood that seriously needed to be dealt with. It opened up the safe that you locked up all of your thoughts and feelings from your upbringing and made you confront them, whether you were ready or not, and now you’re more understanding of yourself and how your past influences who you are and how you act today. You’re not avoiding these problems anymore–you’re facing them and figuring out how to break any cycles that hold you back as an adult. Super heavy, I know, but your sign was one of the ones hit the hardest by Jupiter Retrograde. Now you can expect home life and relationships with your family (or your chosen family) to improve for the rest of the year as well!
Libra
One of the many concepts ruled by Jupiter is “philosophy,” and this retrograde cycle has pushed you to be more in-touch with your personal beliefs. You’re such a people pleaser (no offense) that having an opinion on literally anything and sticking with it is practically impossible for you, because you hate to disrupt your relationships or make your social life feel imbalanced. People have been pointing out your, um, flaky (again, no offense) nature and showing you just how much you hate committing, so you’ve been forced to learn how to make up your mind and stick to your guns! The next step for you is to find a way to be totally assured of your convictions, learn how to be fully independent, and speak your mind even if it means your perspective isn’t the same as your friends’ or coworkers’ or your boo’s. Hooray! You have a backbone now—jk! Seriously though, isn’t it great to not feel like you have to pick and choose your every word and bend over backwards for people?
Scorpio
Your chart’s second house has been getting mixed around the past four months by this retrograde. The second house rules over two things—your values and your valuables. You’ve been super focused on accumulating money, clout from others, or just a lot of stuff in order to feel good about yourself. The past four months have demonstrated that putting stock into material possessions won’t improve your sense of self-worth, and the wisest investments to make are in the form of emotional bonds. Now you know that you can’t buy inner security or correlate your wellbeing with the amount of cash you have stowed away, but you can boost your self-esteem by opening up, trusting others, and investing your emotional resources into projects, goals, and people that will reciprocate the time and energy you put into them.
Sagittarius
Jupiter may be your sign’s planetary BFF, but that doesn’t save you from the trials and tribulations of this past retrograde! …But you already know that by now. Jupiter Retrograde in your sign opened your eyes and gave you a more clear vision of you. The way you dress, the way you act, and the way you present yourself to the world are all motivated by your feelings and desire to fit in—no matter how much you’d love to say you’re always (and sometimes brutally) honest and 100% open with all of your thoughts and opinions! You’ve realized that somehow, somewhere, you misplaced your ability to be unapologetically yourself, and have been acting some type of way in order to appease a relationship, or your family, or your job. Now that Jupiter Retrograde is over, you’re back on top, baby! Speak your mind and say everything with your chest, and don’t let anyone try to hold you back from being the best version of yourself anymore.
Capricorn
Imagine a huge vault or safety deposit box in a bank. It’s (obvs) super valuable and stuffed with treasure and cash, but it’s locked up tight and monitored 24/7 by armed guards and video surveillance. Now replace the valuables inside the vault with feelings and insecurities, and the locks and security systems with all the walls you put up. Yep, it’s you—you’re the safe. Secrets and memories and other parts of yourself you’d rather not confront still have influence over you, no matter how deep you try to bury them away, and these past four months have given you plenty of alone time to sit with these thoughts. Everybody got problems, and stowing them away doesn’t fix them—they just marinate in your brain and cause further issues. Find a confidante, like your best friend or significant other, who will just listen to you. You don’t need (or particularly want) anyone’s advice, but even though you’re the best problem solver out there, sometimes you just need to let off some steam and vent it all out—after that, you can get your life back on track and all that mental background noise will go away!
Aquarius
As the zodiac’s humanitarian, you want to live in a utopia where your life is perfect, which can’t happen unless everybody else’s circumstances are perfect, too. You’re dreaming about this idealistic future, but lately you’ve realized that hopes and wishes and ideas alone don’t get the job done—you have to show up and do something in order to get any real results. Take a look at your vision board and scratch off all of the goals that aren’t realistic or don’t support you in the long run. Now, peek at your friends list and think about which people you see living in your perfect future—your closest friends and fellow team players that support you just as much as you support them. This helps to clear out more space in your life, so you have plenty of room to grow now that Jupiter Retrograde is finally over!
Pisces
You’re a big dreamer, Pisces, so you have over-the-top ambitions for yourself. The trouble is, however, that your vision of the future is so mutable that you never feel like you’re able to meet any of your goals, because they’re always changing. Going from point A to point B sounds simple enough, but then you notice how cool and exciting point C or point D or point Q all look, so you get sidetracked. By the time you realize what happened, you’ve drifted so far away from your OG plan that it feels impossible to get back on your path! Living with your head in the clouds is nice and all, but Jupiter Retrograde has been calling you back down to Earth for the past four months, and now it’s time to come back to the real world. You’re so creative that no problem is unsolvable for you, and you’re so charming and lovable that nobody will ever stand in your way, so set a realistic goal, make a plan (writing it down helps, BTW), and execute it—you got this!
