Just Hold On, Drake Is Coming Back to TV for a Netflix Reboot
Drake is getting back to his original passionfruit: the small screen.
The “Hotline Bling” rapper, who started his career on the Canadian teen soap opera Degrassi: The Next Generation, revealed he’s returning to TV and executive producing a Netflix show called Top Boy.
The new series is said to be in the vein of The Wire and is a revival of an English show of the same name. The show ran for two seasons from 2011 to 2013 and was set in an East London housing project for mixed-income families called Summerhouse. The BAFTA-winning drama starred Ashley Walters (Dushane) and Kane Robinson (Sully) as drug dealers trying to make a living. Both actors are set to reprise their roles for the Netflix reboot, which is due out in 2019.
Seasons one and two of the original Top Boy are currently available to stream on Netflix.
BRB. We’re off to stalk Drake in hopes of winning his heart and the Birkin bags that come with it.
