Justin Bieber is not ashamed to share his love for Crocs. The singer stepped out in Los Angeles on Friday sporting the controversial shoes, even going so far as to pair them with some socks. And in case you’re thinking Bieber just slipped into whatever shoe was the closest to his front door, the Crocs matched the rest of his all-gray outfit. This, dear readers, was intentional.

Crocs and socks may be making a comeback (that is, if they were ever “in” to begin with). Ariana Grande recently wore the controversial combo, showing off the look on Instagram.

Crocs have made a surprisingly amount of high-fashion appearances, with labels like Balenciaga and Christopher Kane coming up with their own interpretations of the shoe. After Kane debuted the shoes on the runway in 2016, he spoke out to defend the divisive shoes.

“Crocs are great, I love them,” he says. “I don’t really care what anyone thinks. I don’t think anyone’s got the right to say right or wrong, unless they’re God, otherwise just shut up,” he told WWD. “I knew people were going to react in that way, but it wasn’t about being controversial. The fact is Crocs is a huge successful business on its own, they don’t need me to make them even more successful. Obviously people do like them, and that’s a different customer that I want to grab. I want to include everyone and not be a snob.”

Yeezy designer Kanye West recently went viral for his latest shoe design, which appeared to be his own interpretation of the Croc. While many people were happy to roast West for the shoe, he will probably get at least one fan of them thanks to Justin Bieber.
