Justin And Hailey Bieber Open Up About Their “Very Hard” Marriage and Justin’s “Legitimate Problem with Sex”
Drop what you're doing, because Justin and Hailey Bieber just spilled the tea on their marriage and it is juicy! In a new interview in Vogue, the newlyweds got real about the complexity of their marriage, admitting that things have been far from easy since they tied the knot last September.
“The thing is, marriage is very hard,” Hailey said in the article. Since getting married, the couple has had to work through a lot of issues, like still dealing with the last time they dated, which, according to Hailey, kind of ended in a blowup.
"Negative things happened that we still need to talk about and work through,” she said. “Fizzled would not be the right word-it was more like a very dramatic excommunication. There was a period where if I walked into a room, he would walk out.”
Now, of course, the two can stay in a room together, though their new Toronto home has proven to lead to some other problems in their relationship. According to the article, the new living situation has lead to many fights, but the couple is in marriage counseling to work through these issues. On top of current marriage problems, there's also the task of dealing with Justin's unsavory past, which he says involved some drug abuse.
In the article, Justin admits he was abusing Xanax around 2013 and 2014. “I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff, and I think I used Xanax because I was so ashamed," he said. It even got so bad at one point, the people around him feared for his life. "It got pretty dark. I think there were times when my security was coming in late at night to check my pulse and see if I was still breathing.”
But Xanax wasn't his only addiction. He also had "a legitimate problem with sex," as he puts it, which is what led him to that Brazilian brothel back in November 2013. In order to get over this addiction, Justin went celibate. "I think sex can cause a lot of pain," he said. The couple even admitted that their whirlwind marriage and rush to the courthouse was partly due to the fact that Justin was ready to break his celibacy and have sex with Hailey.
Hailey has had her own problems, she admits that at first she really struggled with being married to Justin. She was homesick and lonely, having to deal with an army of internet trolls coming after her, waiting for her marriage to go up in flames. “I prayed to feel peace about the decision, and that’s where I landed,” she said. “I love him very much. I have loved him for a long time.”
Over four months after getting married, and the Biebers are still planning their official ceremony. Some wonder if the event will ever occur, especially in light of all the issues the couple is still facing day to day in their marriage. All we can do it wait and watch as they continue to work through their marriage and build a life together.
