Kaia Gerber and Pete Davidson Are "Cooling Off"

Christopher Luu

It looks like 2020 won't be seeing any more of Kaia Gerber and Pete Davidson together. According to E! News, Davidson is pumping the brakes on the relationship and "taking a break to work on his mental health." That means anyone shipping Gerber and Davidson will have to find a new It couple for the new decade.

A source close to Davidson told E!, "It became very clear that he had to go and do this and couldn't wait any longer." This would be the second time Davidson has sought help. In 2016, he received treatment for his mental well-being.

The news comes after reports surfaced about Gerber's parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, intervening in the burgeoning relationship. Kaia and her parents were spotted outside her apartment having what appeared to be a deep, intense conversation while Davidson was seen leaving the building afterward. A different source told E! that Cindy and Rande were "trying to guide [Kaia] and to help Pete through a difficult time."

The two haven't been spotted together since the incident and Kaia returned to Los Angeles with her parents. E! notes that it's unclear whether or not Cindy and Rande helped Davidson decide to seek help and if the relationship had anything to do with it.

An insider notes that Kaia "doesn't know if she wants to continue in their relationship" and that she "wasn't comfortable with what she saw and doesn't know if she can handle it."

Neither Kaia nor Davidson have made any official statement on their relationship status.
