Kandui Resort's Top 10 Wipeouts from the Mentawais Last Year

Wipeouts aren't so fun to endure, but are certainly fun to watch. And luckily, there's been a helluva a lot of wipeout footage surfacing lately.

Earlier this winter, Maui big wave surfer and hellman Kai Lenny got eaten alive in a giant barrel at Jaws. Then WSL commentator Strider Wasilewski was swallowed whole by a huge barrel at Pipeline that gave him a broken eardrum.

More recently, Nathan Florence and Andrew Cotton both survived brutal wipeouts and "absolute annihilation" in 25-foot surf during the same session at enormous Mullaghmore Head in Ireland. Shortly after, Lenny took another heavy beatdown at Jaws, and lived to share his thoughts on it.

The latest compilation of brutal beatdowns while surfing comes from Kandui Resort, the luxe surf camp at Rifles and Kandui Left in Indonesia's Mentawai Islands.

The edit above is a six-minute montage of Kandui's picks for the top 10 wipeouts in the Mentawai's from last year.

Kandui Resort posted the video above on Christmas and captioned it:

"The top 10 ridden waves of the 2022 Mentawai Islands Season. Footage Courtesy of Kandui Resort Mentawai islands, Indonesia, 2022"

While the waves are beautiful, the wipeouts are bad. Really, really bad.

So press play above for some epic wipeouts that are almost as amazing as the perfect waves.
