Kate Beckinsale Opens Up About Accepting Grief Amid Heartache

Kate Beckinsale is sharing her journey with grief in the midst of heartache.

The actress took to Instagram with a set of emotional photos, teary-eyed in some of them, as she revealed she was spending time in the hospital with a loved one. Though it is unclear by the photos and caption who is pictured in the images, according to DailyMail, it is the Click star's mother, English actress Judy Loe.

She is also still mourning the loss of her cat Clive, who died in June, while including a photo of herself holding him, along with what looks to be the deceased feline's casket, which read "A very distinguished gentleman" below his name.

"My heart is broken, yet must understand," another slide, written out in text, expressed.

In the caption of the August 15 post, Beckinsale described the varying emotions she's been feeling, while also sharing an encouraging word to her social media followers.

"Embrace joy. Accept grief. Wear feathers. Sing. Do what makes you feel happy even for a moment. Pair grief and sickness and fear with as much life and laughter and celebration as you possibly can. It doesn’t mean you are having some sort of crisis. It means you are choosing life, fiercely," she wrote.

The message continued: "Be brave, and when you don’t feel brave, listen. Laugh hard, dance hard, cry hard, love hard with those you trust. Spread love when you can. Read. Stay in bed and cry when it’s from all sides and feels like an avalanche. Try not to be mean, or to take on others meanness. People can break. Be kind. Fight with everything you’ve got for your loved ones, and for your own spirit x."

Fans and famous friends poured into the comment section "sending love" her way during this difficult time.

"??love you beautiful soul??," Paris Hilton wrote, as one fan offered: "Some say, “chin up, chest high”, I say you do what feels right. Cry, scream, cuss, maybe all at once. Or don’t. Peace in healing."

As Parade previously reported, the Underworld actress announced that her beloved pet had passed away at 19 years old earlier this summer.
