Kate Gosselin's Estranged Son Accuses Her of Taking 'Anger' Out on Him

Collin Gosselin is shedding more light on his complicated relationship with his famous mom, Kate Gosselin.

In case you haven't been keeping up with the Gosselin family saga, Collin is one of Kate and Jon Gosselin's sextuplets, who grew up on set of the TLC series Jon & Kate Plus 8. The larger-than-life family became famous for having not just one, but two sets of multiples, including older twins Mady and Cara, now age 22.

But things started to take a dark turn when Jon and Kate announced their separation in 2009, changing the trajectory of the show and, ultimately, their relationships with their eight kids.

Collin, now age 19, has been known to be estranged from Kate, who sent him away to a program for children with behavioral issues in 2016. His dad later removed him from the institution and was eventually awarded full custody of Collin in 2018.

Now, in a bombshell new interview, Collin shared some insight on the downfall of his relationship with Kate, claiming that she often took out her unchecked emotions on him and that his alleged behavioral problems weren't exactly as they were made out to be.

"I'm not going to say I was a perfect child, but I'd say my misbehaving was no different from my siblings," he stated in the video interview for Vice TV.

"I don't think effort was made in the home to help him learn what behavior is acceptable and what behavior is not acceptable," his sister Hannah, who also moved in with her dad, stated in the interview on behalf of her brother.

Hannah also alleged that Collin was frequently "separated" from the rest of his siblings, and was not allowed to play outside or eat dinner with them.

"I know my mother was going through a lot of things," Collin said of Kate. "I mean, a divorce, and plenty of different things that can't be easy to go through."

"And, you know, I want to think that she needed someone to take out her anger and frustration on, and it was just kind of me," he candidly stated. "I was in the way and I was there. So, she chose me."

In November 2022, Collin gave an update on his relationship with Kate, 48, noting that things are still estranged between them.

He told Entertainment Tonight that he blamed much of his family's unraveling on the reality show, which ran for the better part of his childhood.

"I want to believe it was because of TV and what being in the public eye does to a family," he said at the time. "I think it tore us apart. It gave us less time to actually be together as a family."

It is unclear if Kate has any contact with Collin now, though Page Six reported that she "coldly snubbed" him while attending his and Hannah's graduation last month.
