Kate Hudson pens sweet birthday message to son Ryder, 19: 'This young man has my whole heart'
Kate Hudson is celebrating another year around the sun with her firstborn, Ryder Robinson.
The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star took to Instagram on Saturday to share several photos and videos of herself and 19-year-old son Ryder, who she shares with her ex-husband Chris Robinson. The proud mom captioned the post, which included a selfie of the two hugging, “Born on a full moon in cancer, this young man has my whole heart.”
The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress continued, calling her son “hilarious, loving, kind, loyal” and “sensitive.”
“Ryder my sweet son, I love celebrating the day you were born,” Hudson, who is also mom to Bingham, 11, and Rani, 4, gushed. “Your birth changed all of our lives forever and has brought so much joy and laughter daily. I love you infinity x infinity x 3 trillion cubed. A Big Happy Birthday @mr.ryderrobinson.”
Ryder commented two heart emojis on the birthday tribute, as did star Aaron Paul. Rita Wilson wrote, “Happy birthday!! Love the Joni reference,” referring to Hudson’s borrowing of a line from Mitchell’s song “Little Green.”
This was Ryder’s first birthday as a college student at New York University. In a December interview with Sunday Today, Hudson told host Willie Geist that it has been challenging adjusting to life without Ryder under her roof full time.
"Ugh, it's so hard,” she said. “All you want is your kid to thrive and be happy, but man, when I'm in L.A. and I go to the coffee machine in the morning and I don't hear his voice — it's a big one.”
Hudson, whose kids all have different dads, previously spoke to The Sunday Times in November 2022 about her unique blended family.
"It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside I feel like we're killing it," she said of co-parenting. "The unit that I've created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it's ours."
She also hinted to Byrdie in December 2022 that she may have more children some day.
“I’ve been having children my entire adult life,” the Truth Be Told alum shared. “I’ve got my 4-year-old and I’ve got a kid in college. And I don’t even know if I’m done yet. You know, I don’t have that answer yet.”
