How Kate Middleton Is Coping Following Cancer Diagnosis

On March 22, Kate Middleton announced she was diagnosed with cancer. The news came after weeks of speculation following planned abdominal surgery in mid-January. Of course, the Princess of Wales waited to reveal the diagnosis so she and her family could process the situation. But how is coping with all of this?
Ailsa Anderson, a former spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth II, offered her insight into the situation.
"She has the inner strength, the support of her husband and her extraordinary family," Anderson told People. "So she can focus on what’s important, which is her getting back to strength."
Middleton broke her silence following her planned surgery with a video message shared via social media. In it, the mom-of-three explained her cancer diagnosis, noting that although doctors initially determined her condition was non-cancerous, further testing revealed there was, in fact, cancer present.
“My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” Middleton shared. “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

In the video, Middleton also shed light on why she waited to share the news. The royal explained that she and Prince William wanted to ensure they could explain the situation to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis "in a way that is appropriate to them."
"I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on things that will help me heal in mind, body and spirits," the future queen noted. She also stressed that her family needs "time, space, and privacy" amid her ongoing treatment.
