Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have begun their duties as senior members of the royal family this morning, attending the morning Remembrance Day service with the Queen and other high-ranking family members. Kate and Meghan were both photographed on the balcony of the Cenotaph wearing black coats and poppy pins (the poppy is worn to honor those who have died in the line of duty during World War I and since). Today is the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice and conclusion of World War I-an occasion that has added more weight to this year's Remembrance Sunday activities.

Kate, who was positioned beside the Queen and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, wore a fitted black coat, accented with a white collar, silver buttons, and stud earrings:

She even had a moment with the Queen:

Meghan, meanwhile, wore a black coat with just her poppy pin as an accent. She wore a black fascinator with it.

Meghan was on a different balcony than Kate, the Queen, and Camilla. She was positioned beside the first lady of Germany, Elke Büdenbender. Kate would usually join Meghan on this balcony, Hello! pointed out, but because the Queen's husband, Prince Philip, skipped today's festivities, Kate took his place on the Queen's balcony.

They will attend an evening service for Remembrance Day at Westminster Abbey with the Queen later.
