Kate Middleton Noticeably Absent From Royal Family Easter Service After Cancer Diagnosis

As King Charles made his triumphant return to the public eye amid his cancer battle, Kate Middleton decidedly skipped the Easter Sunday church service at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle to focus on her health.

As Buckingham Palace previously announced, the Princess of Wales and her family, husband Prince William, along with the couple’s three kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis—did not attend the annual holiday event, opting to spend time privately as a family instead.

Several key members of the royal family were absent from the service, notably Kate Middleton, Prince William and their kids — Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 — who did not attend as they typically would following Princess Kate's public announcement about her cancer diagnosis last week.

Earlier this month, Kate shared the news of her cancer with the world in a personal video message, noting that the shocking diagnosis was made after undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

With many conspiracy theories floating around about her “disappearance” from the public eye, the 42-year-old asked for privacy for herself and her family as she undergoes treatment.

Us Weekly revealed that in line with the plans to step away from the spotlight, Kate and her loved ones would likely spend Easter and spring break at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, England, as the children have nearly a month off school. The travel plans were not confirmed by the royals. However, Anmer Hall, part of the Sandringham Estate, is where they typically spend the holidays.

Meanwhile, King Charles III delighted royal fans with one of the most significant public appearances since his own cancer diagnosis was revealed, taking in the Easter service alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, and senior royals like Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence and Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.

On March 26, King Charles was also seen briefly returning to royal duties meeting with community faith leaders from across the U.K. as part of the Windsor Leadership Trust.
