Kate Middleton & Prince William Will Divide and Conquer for Their Next Royal Engagements
Kate Middleton and Prince William just added another set of royal engagements to the calendar.
The 37-year-old Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be splitting their time in honor of the upcoming Anzac Day celebrations and attending separate engagements to celebrate the holiday.
While Middleton will attend the Anzac Day Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey in London on Thursday, April 25, Prince William will travel to New Zealand to honor fallen soldiers. His trip will begin in Auckland and he’ll continue to Christchurch, where he’ll meet with survivors, first responders and Muslim community leaders impacted by the devastating mosque terrorist attack that occurred on March 15.
Some royal fans expressed concern that William may miss the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child, who’s expected to arrive in late April or early May. Fingers crossed that won’t be the case.
Coincidentally, the Duchess of Cambridge missed the last Anzac Day service because it occurred only two days after she gave birth to Prince Louis, who turns one on April 23 (Can you believe?). Prince William attended the event alongside his brother and Markle and was caught on video taking a quick snooze. Hey, welcoming a newborn is a pretty good excuse for an unexpected power nap.
Anzac Day commemorates the first major World War I battle that included Australian and New Zealand forces. It’s been an important day on the royal docket since King George V attended a Westminster Abbey service in 1916, after the first anniversary of the Anzac battle.
Now, K-Middy is keeping the royal tradition alive.
