Kate Middleton and Prince William Had a Secret Afternoon Tea Date in the Countryside
This week, Prince William and Kate Middleton made their way up to Cumbria, a region in the northwest of England. The Duke and Duchess stopped by a local market, greeted fans, and met with the proprietors of a traditional hillside sheep farm. Then, after a long day of glad-handing and sheep-shearing, they took some time for themselves.
The royal couple briefly retired to a hotel for tea. "It was quite a short break," a spokesperson Ullswater's Inn on the Lake told Hello. "They came and had afternoon tea with us at the Inn on the Lake."
In addition to the expected tea and coffee, the Inn's afternoon tea consists of a wide selection of finger sandwiches, scones, pastries, macaroons, mini truffles, and more.
While they were there, the Duke and Duchess also took time to meet with the hotel director, Dani Hope, and her children, Harry and Ellie.
"What a day we’ve had, we feel absolutely privileged to have been asked to cater for the royal visit," Hope told Hello. "On top of that it was a wonderful opportunity for Harry and Ellie to meet the future King and Queen! They were both so friendly and took time to chat to us, with Kate asking Harry if his favorite food was pizza but he replied no, it’s chips!"
Indeed, the Inn on the Lake posted a slideshow on Instagram of Will and Kate speaking with Harry and Ellie. "We had two VERY special guests stop by today!" the caption reads.
