  • Prince William and Duchess Kate recorded a special message that was broadcast via radio and on social media stating the importance of caring for one's mental health, especially amid an ongoing global health crisis.

The Cambridges are continuing to stress the importance of mental health management amid the pandemic with a new social media initiative.

The Cambridges, along with high-profile Brits such as Dua Lipa, Harry Kane, and David Tennant, recorded a video (via Zoom!) relaying the importance of discussing one's mental health, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. The quick clip, called the Mental Health Minute, features both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge encouraging listeners to reach out to one another, as no one should feel alone during such a trying time. Before posting their Mental Health Minute clip to Instagram, the Cambridges' message was simultaneously broadcast to more than 20 million people across every U.K. radio station.

"If you're struggling, it's important to talk about it. Or if someone you know is acting differently, it's OK to ask how they are. Use this moment to send a message," Kate says in the clip.

"We're all connected. And sometimes just talking about how you're feeling can make a big difference," adds William. "So right now, let's join together across the U.K. and reach out to someone."

Following the release of the Cambridges' Mental Health Minute video, their Heads Together campaign partnered with Instagram to launch the Heads Together Wellbeing Guides, which serve as digital guidance for individuals to seek reliable mental health recommendations from individuals and organizations they trust, admire, and follow. The first official guides from Heads Together will go live on Instagram later today and focus on themes of talking, self-care, and kindness.
