Kate Middleton Stepped Out for a Rare Street Style Moment

It's not everyday that Kate Middleton is spotted in the wild, outside the controlled environment of a royal engagement or event. But on Friday, the duchess stepped out for a rare solo shopping trip to the Peter Jones department store in London, and attempted to blend in with the rest of the public with her off-duty uniform.

For the outing, Kate dressed down in skinny jeans paired with a gray Ralph Lauren cable-knit sweater underneath a long checked coat by Massimo Dutti and dark brown Chelsea boots (see photos here). A blue face mask and black shopping bag provided the finishing touches to her low-key look. Even her hair was more informal than typical. Rather than a shiny, bouncy blowout, her brunette locks were styled straight with a middle part and tucked behind her ears.

Looking like just your average chic shopper, Kate seemingly went unnoticed as she hopped into the backseat of her chauffeured car.

Kate's casual appearance came after the royal joined her in-laws Prince Charles and Camila, Duchess of Cornwall for a formal event sans Prince William earlier this week. The trio traveled to The Prince's Foundation training centre in London, where they spoke with graduates and young business leaders from the prince's Modern Artisan project and attended wax figure and life drawing classes. Kate looked polished per usual in a belted tweed dress with a bold collar.
