Kate Middleton Twinned With the Late Princess Diana in This Houndstooth Coat
Though Kate Middleton is well into her third pregnancy, she’s showing no signs of slowing down lately, making tons of public appearances all over Europe and showing off her signature style. No one does winter chic quite like the Duchess, whether she’s recycling her favorite coats or rocking affordable snow boots. But her latest cold weather style statement pays homage to husband Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana, and we cannot get over how stunning it is.
The royal couple is trekking across Europe for a series of public engagements this week, stopping in Stockholm, Sweden to visit the Karolinska Institute where they met with Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden. They posed for photos with fans, before heading into a reception celebrating Swedish culture at the Fotografiska Gallery. But it’s Middleton’s coat choice that has everyone freaking out, because it’s a modern-day update on a classic Princess Diana outfit.
Back in 1990, the late Diana wore a red and white houndstooth jacket by Moschino, pairing it with a black turtleneck and a black and white houndstooth pencil skirt, accessorized with a wide-brimmed felt hat with lace trimming, red and black pumps, sheer black tights, and her signature pearl earrings. So to see the Duchess of Cambridge in a virtually identical coat by Catherine Walker with a 2018 twist is truly the sweetest way for her to sartorially honor Prince William’s beloved mother.
Middleton updated hers by adding a burgundy Chanel bag and burgundy pumps, but the entire look is giving us so much Diana déjà vu, it’s bonkers.
According to The Mirror, the soon-to-be mom of three paid tribute to Diana just a day earlier by sporting her Collingwood pearl and diamond earrings and matching three string pearl bracelet for a black-tie dinner in Stockholm. It’s further proof that the classics never go out of style!
