If Kate Middleton‘s latest top looks familiar, it’s not because the royal — who is famously fond of recycling her favorite items — has worn it before. But Melania Trump has.

On Tuesday the duchess made an appearance at a London children’s center wearing a purple silk-crepe blouse by Gucci, which currently retails for $1,300. She paired the bold top with trousers from Jigsaw, the British brand where she once worked as an accessories buyer before marrying into the royal family.
She’s not the only high-profile woman to go for the Gucci style. The p***y-bow blouse became infamous on Oct. 9, 2016, when Melania Trump wore a hot pink version of the Gucci design to the second presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Many interpreted the clothing choice as a daring response to Trump’s “Grab them by the p***y” quote to Billy Bush on Access Hollywood, which had leaked just days before.
Long before her “I really don’t care, do u?” jacket made waves, speculation was rife that the first lady — said to be outraged by her husband’s derogatory remarks about women — was wearing p***y-bow blouses to troll her husband. Last August she wore one such blouse in a lavender hue while giving a speech denouncing cyberbullying.
“I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear,” FLOTUS complained during her trip to Egypt last fall — though insiders suspect her wardrobe is more calculated than she lets on.
As for Kate? There’s unlikely to be any hidden message behind her latest look. Sometimes a blouse really is just a blouse — but only she knows for sure.
