Kate Middleton Wore a Festive Plaid Look to Queen Elizabeth's Annual Christmas Lunch
Christmas isn't until next week, but the royal family's holiday celebrations are already underway. Today, Kate Middleton and Prince William are attending Queen Elizabeth's holiday lunch at Buckingham Palace, with other members of the royal family in tow.
The Duchess of Cambridge was photographed in her car, arriving at the royal residence, with Prince George and Princess Charlotte spotted in the backseat. She is wearing what appears to be a festive plaid dress over a white collared shirt for the event.
Today's lunch is one of the highlights of the royal family's holiday calendar. Not only are Will and Kate typically in attendance (along with their kids, now that they're old enough!), but extended members of the Queen's family are also included. Numerous other royals were spotted driving into Buckingham Palace today, including Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, and Zara Tindall..
Notably, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are missing the event. As previously announced, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are marking their first Christmas as a family of three with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland. Harry and Meghan are currently on an extended break from their royal duties, and are expected to return to work in 2020.
Earlier this week, Will and Kate teamed up with cooking legend Mary Berry on A Berry Royal Christmas, a Christmas television special that aired on BBC. Berry joined the royals at a few charity engagements, and helped Will and Kate plan a festive party for charity staff and volunteers.
The Cambridge's are celebrating Christmas at Anmer Hall, their country home on the royal family's Sandringham estate in Norfolk. We can expect to see Will and Kate on Christmas day as they head to church with the Queen, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and other royals.
