Kate Middleton and Prince William are out this morning for one of the Palace's biggest events of the year so far: the mid-morning reception at Buckingham Palace being held to mark the 50th anniversary of the Investiture of the Prince of Wales. (Prince Charles had his formal title ceremony on July 1, 1969.) The couple has just been shot in the reception, marking a rare occasion photographers have been allowed at Buckingham Palace receptions to document the event. The Duchess of Cambridge is wearing a light blue high-neck dress with cream heels.

Usually, Buckingham Palace receptions like this are private. Photographers aren't inside to take photos of the family or the outfits they're wearing. But the Queen did make an exception back in early December for her Diplomatic Reception that Kate attended. One could happen today too.

Kate will be out again tomorrow for afternoon engagements in Blackpool with her husband. She'll visit Blackpool Tower at 12:30 p.m. London time, then meet member of the public at 1:30 p.m. there on the Comedy Carpet.

After that event, Kate and William will be out March 11 for Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will join them, too.

Kate and William were last out Wednesday and Thursday for their two-day royal tour of Northern Ireland. There, Kate revealed Princess Charlotte's nickname to a public well-wisher, poured a pint in a sparkly Missoni gown at an evening party, and wore a dreamy Cinderella blue coat to start her second day of engagements.
